A six-person delegation from Tropenbos International participated in the XIV World Forestry Congress that took place on 7-11 September 2015 in Durban, South Africa. Under the theme ‘Forests and People: Investing in a Sustainable Future’, the Congress offered an excellent opportunity to follow developments, initiatives and innovations covering a wide range forestry topics.
The programme and main outcomes of the Congress can be found at the congress website. The reflections of the TBI delegation on some of the trends and challenges that emerged from the deliberations have been compiled into an infosheet. Without no pretention of being exhaustive, it is hoped that this informal insight offers some interesting food for thought, areas for consideration (or reconsideration), and a few angles that deserve more attention in the future.
