Recognition to the dialogue of knowledge

Colombia - 19 October, 2015

Carlos Rodriguez, TBI Colombia’s program director, received a tribute during the IV Latin American Ethnobiology Congress “Weaving the Memory and the Biocultural Future of Latin America and the Caribbean”, and the V Colombian Ethnobiology Congress “Singing, Narrating, and Healing: the Biocultural Memory of Colombia”, which took place in Popayán, Colombia from 28 September to 2 October, 2015.

Carlos Rodríguez was presented the Baton of Thinking that symbolizes the knowledge holder, the person that has the knowledge and the capacity to transmit wisdom as a true master. The baton represents the good government of communities, an honest and responsible performance, and a respect to different communities, traditions, cosmovisions, uses and practices.

homenaje 2.jpgThis recognition comes after another recent homage in the XIII Icthyology Colombian Congress and IV South American Ichtyology Meeting in Leticia from June 15 to 19, 2015. This recognition highlights Carlos Rodriguez’s long experience in working with indigenous communities, in the promotion of the dialogue of knowledge, local research and community monitoring for the protection of the icthyological diversity in the Amazon.
