Nick is a specialist in dryland research and development. He graduated in agroforestry in 1989, with periods in Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, and throughout Africa. In the meantime, he also expanded his portfolio to include science writing/editing and communications. He is also worked as a trainer on the management and utilisation of dryland trees, small-scale sawmilling, and communications (science writing, interviewing, photography).
Nick began working with Tropenbos in 2014 on the theme of ‘landscape approaches’ and continued as an associate editor until 2020 when he became a Programme Coordinator. He is now leading the establishment of a new dryland component and a country programme in Ethiopia, linked to the landscape restoration theme under the Working Landscape programme. He will also coordinate and co-edit the production of a new drylands-focused edition of ETFRN News, and related publications.
