15 May, 2012Workshop to assess the policy and practice of Forest Land Allocation held in Ha Noi
On April 10th, 2012, TBI Viet Nam, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), conducted a workshop in Ha Noi entitled, “Forestry Land Allocation: Policy and Practice.” The event was held in cooperation with the Department of Science, Technology and Environment (under MARD) and the Institute of Forest Planning and Inventory (FIPI).
Development of organizational models for community forestry in DR Congo

In 2002 the forest law created the opportunity for communities to engage in the management of the forest areas that traditionally belong to them.
Regulations on how to implement community forestry in DRC are yet to be approved but there are several proposals under consideration. Imposed forms of community forestry have proven to be difficult in many countries however and to be successful, it is important to base organizational and forest management schemes on organizational structures and land use systems that already exist in practice.
