| Abstract: | This book, part of the study "Biophysical and Socio-economic Evaluation of Agroforest Systems in the Guaviare Settlement Area", highlights the settlers in Guaviare. Several examples of agroforestry practices are evaluated, analysing three principle aspects: the ways of use and management of the agroforestry systems, the biophysical characteristics of theses practices, and a socio-cultural and -economic analysis of the benefits. The author found that for example: the agroforestry systems used are limited in plant diversity; wood resources are (still) sufficiently available; the systems used render no monetary benefits to the peasants; the poor socio-economic situation does not guarantee the sustainability of the systems used. | |
