Technical Committee Working Meeting

On 10-11 June 2009, the project organised a technical committee working meeting to list and discuss chainsaw milling issues in Ghana, based on the research report and the outcomes of the regional meeting (May 2009 in Accra), and to come out with possible options for further discussions at the Multi-stakeholder Dialogue (MSD).

Regional workshops on Chainsaw Lumbering
Two regional workshops on chainsaw milling were recently concluded in Accra, Ghana (25-26 May, 2009), and Georgetown, Guyana (8-9 June, 2009). Each workshop presented case studies on the causes and consequences of chainsaw milling and the way in which this practice has been managed in a variety of countries in Africa, the Guiana Shield and the Caribbean.

Facilitators trained for the Chainsaw Lumbering Dialogue in Ghana and Guyana
Under the framework of the EU Chainsaw Project "Developing alternatives to illegal Chainsaw Lumbering through multi-stakeholder dialogue", a facilitators' training workshop has been held from 19th - 30th May 2008 in Kumasi, Ghana.
