GEOCOBUF project produces CD-ROM

As one of the final products developed within the framework of the GEOCOBUF project, this CD-rom contains a basic Geographical Information System (GIS) developed to support the sustainable management of the natural resources within Bach Ma National Park’s core zone and surrounding buffer zone.

Generally speaking, prerequisite for improved core and buffer zone management is the collection, processing and organization of relevant, accurate and up-to-date data on the condition of the resources, the processes of resource loss and degradation and the likely needs of local people for resource products and services in the foreseeable future.

These data will constitute the basis for further analysis that will generate the information needed for planning and decision-making. This CD could not be seen as a “finished” product. The basic GIS presented on it are not a ‘static entity’ and will be developed further over time.

We do hope that the wider distribution of this CD to other organizations in Vietnam contributes to providing examples in protected area management for others working in Vietnam.
