Peoples perspectives on forest exploitation: villagers, pygmies and changing relations to the forest

(ENDED)

Objective:
To describe the role of the local population in the exploitation of the forest, their perceptions and knowledge of the forest environment and the possibilities of involving them in sustainable forms of forest management
Output:

Most important aspects have been analysed, i.e. the importance of forest resources to various groups in the local population (see also S1bis); changes due to new developments; sedentarisation and changes in perception; forest management and the issue of community; laws and rights; issues of representation, leadership and negotiation power in outside relations. Recommendations for co-management have been formulated. 4 researchers (2 Cameroonian and 2 Dutch) were trained scientifically, various other students were trained at BSc and MSc (Cameroonian, Dutch, French, Belgian)
