TBI Cameroon
Forest dynamics in disturbed evergreen forest, with
special reference to actual and potential commercial trees species
(ENDED)
|

|
| Objective: |
|
To contribute to a scientific basis for the development of
a sustainable forest management system. To determine the effects
of felling gap size and shifting cultivation on the rate of
forest recovery in terms of species diversity and forest structure.
|
| Output: |
|
Changes in seedling and sapling density and species richness
due to gap size and age in logged forest and shifting cultivation
fields described. Influence of light and soil conditions (forest
canopy and landing) on leaf and plant morphology of Lophira
alata described. Some indications of species preference for
light (forest canopy cover and gap size) are given. Some preliminary
management recommendations have been formulated.
