Commercial potential of lesser known species

(ENDED)

Objective:

This study is to provide information on the potential marketability of timber species, which are not or seldom used at present. This information can be used in estimating the economic value of the forest, and in preparing a list of species, which are likely to contribute to future harvests. The project also has an important commercial application, that is, it will facilitate the promotion of lesser-known timbers on the local and international markets.

Output:

The timber qualities of 26 lesser-known species (out of the 30 planned) were analysed and compared to the requirements of important end-uses on local en international markets. The results were added to existing software and made available for Cameroonian forestry practice.
