Bridging science and society to conserve Ghana's rainforest

 

Objective:
The overall objective is to contribute to conservation of the forest through raising awareness and linking scientific knowledge and society. The project aims to disseminate scientific information generated from recent research work together with that from the TBI-Ghana research programme and make it accessible to a broader audience. The specific objectives are: · Provide important actors in the forestry sector like policy makers and forest managers with tailor-made information to improve their performance · Facilitate two-way communication between important stakeholders in the forestry sector: policy makers, forest managers and scientists. · Raise awareness of forest fringe communities and general public on how to use the forest in a sustainable way and facilitate bottom-up information flow.
Output:

The main activities in this project are fact sheets, focus group discussions and training sessions supported by a traveling poster exhibition.
